Saxenda is a prescription medication used for weight management in adults. It is an injectable medication that mimics the hormone GLP-1 to help regulate appetite and promote weight loss.
Target Users
It’s indicated for those with Bmi 27-30 with comorbidities or BMI 30 and above (no comorbidities required).
Dosing Guide:
Saxenda is administered as a subcutaneous injection once daily. The dose is gradually increased weekly until an optimal dose of 3.0 mg is reached to minimize side effects. The 3.0 mg is then taken until the end of treatment
The recommended duration of Saxenda treatment is typically six months. However, if a patient reaches their goal weight before the six-month mark, they can discontinue the medication. On the other hand, if a patient requires more than six months to achieve their desired weight loss, they can continue with the medication beyond the initial six-month period.
